Osteopaths and Osteopathic Treatment
The practice of osteopathy is relatively new locally. While we do not generally recommend osteopathic treatment, some patients are still keen to consider it as a treatment option.
If you are considering treatment by an osteopath, do review the following link and other related osteopathy sites before making an informed choice of the potential risks and benefits involved.

Osteopathic practice is based largely on the assumption that the bones are the key cause of disease.
By manipulating the bones frequently, osteopaths often aim to correct physiological imbalances.
However, the use of sudden manipulative thrusts brings about the possibility of further injury, especially when most osteopaths advice patients to undergo a series of frequent “adjustments” over a period of time.
In view of such safety concerns, most doctors in Singapore prefer to prescribe a series of controlled mobilization by trained physiotherapists instead.
By using a series of gentle, passive, oscillatory spinal movements, physiotherapists are often able to much more safely achieve the results claimed by osteopathy
